Heard from the baseball teams yet? Are they looking for promotions to spice up their season?
From Rock station KDKB in Phoenix comes “93 Singing Dads”, a promotion perfectly tailored for Father’s Day but which could work for just about any sporting event at any time of the year (provided that it starts with the singing of the national anthem).
First, 93 dads (the station’s dial position) are recruited on air or at a client location and are awarded tickets to a specific game for their families (Father’s Day would be nice). Before the game, all 93 dads are brought to a central meeting point at the stadium to “rehearse” their performance. Then, just before the opening pitch, all 93 dads, plus their kids, are lead on to the field to sing an a capella version of the Star Spangled Banner in unison.
Perhaps you could ask the music director from a local church or university to lead the group, and you’ll definitely want to put all of the dads in station t-shirts.
And what about recording the whole affair and making it downloadable on your station Web site?
I REALLY like this one and think it works well for virtually any format.
